Packaging Breakdown
We select earth-friendly materials in all of your packaging so that nothing ends up in your trash. Here's how to dispose of each piece properly:
Cardboard Box: Curbside recyclable, including the cardboard insert, paper tape and shipping label.
Aluminum Bottle: If you're no longer going to use ModernKind, the bottle and cap are curbside recyclable. Leave the label on (it's recyclable, too).
Refill Pouch: Add it to your home compost or worm farm. Or deliver it to your local industrial composter. Or bury it in your backyard or garden (this takes longer to degrade than a home compost, though).
Refill Mailer: Curbside recyclable, including the label.

So happy with this body wash! It lathers really well and it smells SO good! I traveled this past weekend and it was so nice to toss it in my bag without any worries!
I've been using modern kind while living out of my van and it is a great alternative to soap bars. When I shower I have to go into a gym, so the soap bars always leave streaks in my bag. thanks for creating a solution for this <3
I love the idea of this product and am so glad I got the chance to try it! The scent is lovely and the lather is surprisingly really good! It took my hair some getting used to, but now it is added to my shower routine.
I LOVE this shampoo! I have really curly, thick hair and it worked so well! There’s a bit of a learning curve with figuring out how much to use but after that it’s so simple & such a game changer. I also recently traveled with it which was soo much easier than traveling with liquid shampoo!! Cannot recommend enough !!
It took me a few uses to get the water to powder mixture just right, but now Ive got it down! I absolutely love the smell of this shampoo, lavender sage is so accurate and its not too strong - just right. It makes my hair feel so clean and non-greasy and my hair is less staticy with this shampoo compared to others. A perk you may not think about with powdered shampoo is that you can travel with it without it taking up precious space in your 1qt TSA bag, win!! :D
I’m so glad I tried this shampoo alternative. I love the fragrance and how versatile it can be. I like to mix it in a bowl instead of my hands so I have more control, but in hand lather also works wonderfully. It’s also sulfate free! So you might not experience the same lather as commercial products with harsh chemicals, but I promise it’s a good thing, and your hair IS getting squeaky clean. My hair feels lovely and looks nice and shiny, and I’ve been using it for several weeks now. I also use a lot of powder because I have super thick hair, but I can tell the bottle is still going to last me a long time! So if you have finer/shorter hair, I imagine this could end up lasting you months.
This shampoo is absolutely perfect for travel. You could bring even a fraction of the bottle and still have plenty for extended trips! It’s lightweight, smells amazing, and is the most environmentally friendly formula and alternative shampoo product by far. Highly recommend!
Perfect for Travel and the Planet! This is the first environmentally conscious shampoo that did not disappoint! I’ve tried multiple brands of shampoo bars in the past and just never found one that actually worked well. After using ModernKind my hair feels clean and soft (and thankfully without all the chemicals). It did take me a moment to get used to adding the water, but now I don’t have to think twice. Also, I went on a month-long international backpacking trip and this shampoo was exactly what I needed. It allowed me to have one less liquid, was super easy to carry in my pack without having to worry about a spill, and the powder is way lighter than liquid for an added bonus.
I love how the bottle is so nice and light and easy to sprinkle a small amount into my hand and the clean, fresh scent as I get a nice lather! And each time I use this I’m doing my part in sustainability, it’s a good feeling! I’m very excited for my first order to arrive, this will be so light and small for traveling as well!

It works great and I like the fragrance! I wasn't sure whether to use conditioner or not, so I paired with my usual conditioner. I used about 2 tbsp for shoulder length hair.
I received my refill package just as I used the last of my shampoo! Perfect timing! How nice to be refillable. I love the smell of this shampoo and how it leaves my hair shiny and clean. I also love the ease and size of the bottle compared to bulky shampoo bottles in the shower. It will be super packable when we fly on vacation this summer! Bonus: Doing our part with sustainability!
My boyfriend (Keith) is absolutely loving the ModernKind shampoo. He is traveling right now, and he never got the hang of bar shampoo. I sent him on his way with ModernKind, and he is really really liking it!
Although it is difficult to get a lather going, with a couple different rounds of powder + water + lather, I can massage it into my hair, and I love the way my hair is shiny and clean afterwards. Great product!

I love this shampoo! I’ve tried so many sustainable shampoos & this one is my favorite. You can tell a lot of time and care went into every aspect of creating it - all the way to how it’s packaged and shipped. Plus, I seriously think it’s the best smelling shampoo I’ve ever bought!
I’m a bit of a shampoo skeptic because I’m autistic, and the touch/feel of my hair is really important—if it’s not soft and easy to run my fingers through, yikes! So I was surprised that I really like this! First off, yay sustainability! But also, THE SMELL. My shower smells like a luxurious spa. It took me a time or two to get the hang of it, because powder-to-lather was new to me, but once I figured out the best way to wet my hands, it works great! And if you’re a person training your hair to not need washing as much (oily girl over here 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️), this is PERFECT for the mid-point of the week where things are starting to get oily, but I don’t want a harsher shampoo that strips natural oils and everything from my hair. 10/10!!
I feel pretty, oh so pretty! Really surprised by this product. It gets my hair “squeaky clean” in the shower, which I find quite nice. The smell is incredible. Think “Spa Day” and Dr. Bronner’s had a baby. It made me feel like I was treating myself to something really fancy…but never have to leave the house. Additionally, my hair is beautiful afterwards. Shiny and soft…sooooo soft. Plus, the box is beyond cool.

I enjoyed the whole experience of using ModernKind - from the sleek recyclable bottle to the tactile experience of activating the shampoo and getting to smell that lovely earthy/flowery scent to the way my hair feels after the wash - it's all great. Extra great? This shampoo helps my hair look/feel great on the days in between washes *far* better than other shampoos I've tried!
So cool! I got a good lather and my hair feels nice! There was a learning curve to figuring out how much I should use but I figured it out after a few showers. Excited to try a conditioner!
I like this a lot more than shampoo bars. It didn’t take very long to get used to, and it lathers well and rinses out well too. It keeps my hair less oily for longer than other shampoos, and I love that it doesn’t come in plastic.

Works great with thick, oily hair! This is a fantastic product! I have thick, oily hair, so I didn't have super high expectations for the shampoo to work well. However, after a couple trials to figure out how to use the powder correctly, I now get a perfect lather every time, and my hair is cleaned the same as if I used any other high quality shampoo.
SO CLEAN. My hair feels SO clean and smells SO good! It's a little weird to get to know the shampoo powder but this shampoo works great. I also LOVE the low waste aspect, well done!

Love this shampoo, my hair felt great! My hair is fine and ModernKind made it feel fabulous. Shampoo powder is a fantastic concept. I have been using powdered laundry soap for a few years now and would never go back to liquid.
Great for travel and environmentally friendly! I tried this shampoo wanting a new shampoo for traveling (since it doesn’t count towards liquid travel requirements). Not only does it clean and lather well, but I like the smell of ModernKind and appreciate the sustainability and environmental friendliness. I use it 1-2 days per week and has worked well.
